Civics Through Play
We design workshops and experiences that develop the skills needed to promote constructive dialogue and civic-mindedness. In a polarized world, we need to find ways to build consensus. Using the power of play, we promote civic-mindedness in a whole new way.
Games and Experiences
We provide ‘play based’ experiences to engage students in skills that promote civic-mindedness. Through these experiences, participants tap into the 4Cs while employing curiosity, open-mindedness, and empathy as they gain new perspectives and work to build consensus. The Meet in the Middle Game
Use this short game to engage students in a discussion around labeling. Using the topic of extrovert and introvert, students will do a quick exercise that demonstrates sometimes things are more complex than they may seem.
The Loaded Words Game
Language is important. We sometimes hear and use words without fully understanding their meaning. This game helps students better understand the nuance and complexity of language and vocabulary.
The Grey Zone Game
This game enables kids to explore moral and ethical dilemmas. Students gain an understanding of various perspectives by having to argue the viewpoint of their card. Through this exercise students practice their critical thinking and communication skills while empathizing with ideas they may not necessarily agree with.
